My friends think I'm crazy when I insist basil makes a nice dessert flavor, or when I mention my latest passion is peach-basil smoothies for breakfast. Here's an example of one I took with my cell phone to share with a friend.

But I'm not alone in my interest in basil as a sweet flavor. Joel Robuchon uses it, as well, and this basil lime sorbet was delicious. Super refreshing given how hot it is here.



Did I mention the heat? It's been impossibly hot and humid here lately. Last night, I was unable to sleep and tonight I didn't feel like cooking but wanted something refreshing. So I just made a little veggie stir fry with ponzu, and a raita. I've never made a raita by myself before, but it was very easy, refreshing, and delicious.
I was planning on having some for tomorrow, too, but I ate the whole bowl. Thank goodness my yogurt is easy to make! I have a feeling this is going to become another summer staple. Is there such a thing as too much yogurt?
